CGA & St Leonard's Hospice - The finale to a year of support

On the 14th October 2011, we invite you to join us for a fabulous fundraising finale party and combined race night.

Try your skill on the track – back your favourite, pose as a proud owner or don your silks and bring home the winner…

It's hard to believe that our 12 month's support of St Leonard's Hospice is drawing to a close. We decided to start supporting St Leonard's Hospice in 2010 when our friend and colleague Karen Mustill was diagnosed with cancer and sadly passed away aged only 39. During our fundraising year we have held a wonderful sunflower party where we auctioned all sorts of fabulous prizes (see our website if you missed it); held a coffee morning; helped shoppers with their packing (or got paid not to help); manned stalls at fairs and collected a mountain of clothes for the new Selby shop. It has been so much fun and a brilliant cause that we are rounding off our year with what we hope will be another great 'do', aiming to push our fundraising efforts over £10,000.

Held at the Novotel, York, the party starts at 7pm with welcome drinks, followed swiftly by 'starter's orders' at 7.30pm.

A fun-filled night of filmed racing, you will be able to place bets on which horses you think will win and, if you're lucky, claim a money prize. In addition there will be music, a sumptuous buffet dinner and raffle.

We very much hope you will join us and support St Leonard's Hospice. Tickets are £25 each (including buffet dinner) - bring along 10 guests, colleagues or clients and the price is discounted to £225. Please email Stacey@cga-york.co.uk or call 01904 720718, tickets are limited, so will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.

Fancy being an owner or jockey? £10 and £5 respectively will give you the chance to feature as a proud owner or nimble jockey for each horse running. Again, please let Stacey know if you would like to purchase either of these, if you cannot join us it's a great way to take part on the night! You do not have to attend event to buy or win. If you would like your name/business name to appear on the race card/programme on the night as an owner or jockey, the closing date for this is the 1st October, however, we will still be selling any remaining spaces on the night.

Anyone for a backwards raffle? If you attended our last party, you may have witnessed your first ever backwards raffle. It is quite a sight to behold and great fun. Plus you get the chance to win some great prizes.

CGA & St Leonard's Hospice – The beginning of a year of support

As many of you may be aware, much loved CGA colleague Karen Mustill died early this year of cancer at the age of 39. We have therefore decided to support Karen's chosen charity, St Leonard's Hospice and for the next 12 months we will be holding a series of fundraising activities. The Hospice provides care for people with life threatening illnesses and does not charge the patients or their families so relies almost entirely on donations.

On the 2nd October we held our first ever charity evening, to officially launch our 12 month partnership with St Leonard's Hospice. It was a massive success, raising over £8,200 for the charity from donations, a silent auction and our tree of life. Over the next few weeks, we will be adding photo's, testimonials and press links from the evening.

To kick start the support we held a coffee morning, where everyone was invited to come along and donate unwanted clothes for the new Hospice shop in Selby. It proved to be a huge success as we filled one of our conference rooms with a wonderful mix of clients and contacts who kindly donated 50 bags of unwanted clothes (plus a teddy bear) for the new shop which opened in Selby in September. We also received donations of over £200 which is a fabulous start to our year of support for the Hospice.

To be kept informed of any events or news about our charity partnership, make sure you are subscribed to our monthly newsletter and a fan of our facebook page.

Testimonials

"We really had a great evening from the venue (visited it many times before but this has been the best time yet) the food (for an evening of this nature with so many people to deliver food of this quality and still hot was a great achievement in itself!!), the wine (was VERY much appreciated and unexpected, really great at the start of the night and even better at the end, but I would say that……….), the entertainment and the team from CGA were second to none and I will definitely make an appearance at any future events where Adam or the CGA team are appearing, the Japanese Whisky not only stole it's own spot in the mid-evening entertainment but made a very welcome appearance at the end too and performed well beyond any pre-conceived expectations that anyone could possibly have had!"
Chris & Steph Spooner, CPI Corporate Solutions Ltd

"A very heartfelt thank you for a great evening on Saturday: enjoyed by we four and I am sure by all who attended. The organisation that went into it must have been immense but the result was also wonderful; well done to all. The hospice must be very pleased to have such an organisation on their side in this current financial situation and so must Karen be, to know that she had so many friends who cared for her sufficiently to spend the evening spending money in her remembrance."
Jonathan & Elizabeth Beckerlegge

"Just to once again congratulate you all on an absolutely fantastic evening on Saturday. The hard work you had all put into the night shone through and everyone, without doubt, had a wonderful time. To raise such an amazing sum is frankly quite humbling - it wouldn't have happened without your dedication and effort."
Janet Morley, St Leonard's Hospice
